A typical stretch of the Hana Highway beyond Kailua. A roadcut for the narrow (often no more than one lane wide) rural highway can be seen in the upper-left quadrant of the photo. Rainfall averages are often more than 200 to 300 inches a year; however, this part of the island got that much in 2.5 months during the winter of 2006!
