Coat Buttons (Tridax procumbens) is a member of the Sunflower Family (Asteraceae). In addition to their distinctive white flower perched on a stalk (peduncle) that can be as tall as 50 cm, these attractive little weeds are distinguished by their hairy opposite leaves with toothed or lobed margins. The flower heads are out of focus in order to emphasize the ground-hugging leaves. Both the toothed-margin and lobed leaf habits can be seen in this photograph. Both leaf types are present on the same plant.
