A nice double flukes-up dive, Ma'alaea Bay, Maui, 30 January 2011.
Close-up shot of an immature whale performing a flukes-up dive. Although this behavior, when observed in older adult whales, indicates the individual will stay submerged for more than ten minutes (the record is one hour for Humpbacks), this youngster's lack of lung capacity will prevent it from staying down for more than one or two minutes at a time.
