During a pec wave, this whale's pectoral fin slices through the water as it moves against a strong surface current and high winds. Its unique coloration pattern is clearly visible on the fin. The turquoise coloration seen just below the surface is a continuation of that black-and-white coloration pattern on the whale's ventral aspect. 6 March 2012
