Poelua Bay, Kahekili Highway, west Maui. - Footprints in Paradise: Photos of Maui & the Hawaiian Islands

This part of the island is dominated by the cloud-capped heights of the West Maui Mountains, the other member of the pair of volcanoes (which includes Haleakala) responsible for the formation of Maui.

From this point on until you round Kahekili Point and head toward Kahului, the settlements are smaller than this and are far-and-few-between.
